Thomas C. Todd

Thomas C. (Tommy) Todd 94 Hendrum, MN passed away on July 1, 2026 at Bethany on 42nd in Fargo ND.

Tommy was born August 27, 1931 to F. Arnett and Isabel (Tarvestad) Todd on a relatives farm which was a couple miles east of Hendrum, MN. He went to school in Hendrum and graduated in 1950. When in his teens Tommy spent summers going south down to Oklahoma custom combining with some farmers in the area. He almost missed his draft letter for the army and had only three days to get on the bus and go. He served in the army from 1952 to 1954 in Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

Tommy met his wife Darlene Anderson in high school and they were married December 22, 1952 at Kirkebo Lutheran Church in Perley, MN.

After serving in the army they came back to Fargo, ND for a short while and then moved out to California and got a job because Tommy had family there. After being there a couple years they couldn’t handle the smog and came back to the fresh air of Minnesota.

Tommy built a home just south of Darlene’s parents after purchasing two acres from his father-in-law.

Tommy worked for 40 years for Abbot, Arnie and Schwindt of Moorhead doing water and sewer construction. He traveled all over Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa and parts of Wisconsin, sometimes being gone for a couple weeks at a time. There would be times when he would create some type of equipment to use to make it safer for his coworkers down in the trench. He was very creative and thought things through.

Tommy enjoyed gardening and watching things grow. He had a lot of pride for how his yard looked. He also enjoyed doing scrollsaw work and intarsia wood work in his later years especially in the winter months. He enjoyed traveling with his wife when they could and also with his oldest son Dwight in later years. He worked for a farmer, Tom Strand, just south of his place for many years after he retired. Tommy was always willing to help family, neighbors and friends with whatever they needed doing.

Tommy became a member of Triumph Lutheran Brethren church, Moorhead, MN when their home church Landstad Lutheran Perley, MN closed its doors.

Tommy is survived by his five children, Dwight, Terri (John) Helland, Mike, Brad (Kristie) and Micki (Rick) Antoine. Grandchildren April (Jim Golden) Todd, Ryan (Amber), Derek (Becky) Todd and Ashley (Marzel) Harris. Tony Todd, Nicole (Rick) Gamboa, and Cody Todd. Alisha (Jeff) Lynch, Brandon (Becca) Joe (Cora) Todd and Mikalya (Ben ) Gordon. Amber (Skyler) Jackson, Adam Aarestad, John (Rachel) Antoine. His great grandchildren Dylan and Jordan Malmlov, Ledger, Lake, Nellie, Idella and Lincoln Todd. Azalea and Tauren Harris, Veda and Josie Todd, Adrian and Sidney Gamboa, Will and Brooklyn Lynch, Harper and Peyton Todd, Colter, Ames and Hattie Todd, Boden, Blake and Brody Gordon, Ariah Aus, Gabe and Michael Antoine. Roman and Wyatt Jackson. A special thank you to Layne and Caitlin Laporte for treating our dad like your grandpa and helping him out these last few years.

He was preceded in death by his wife Darlene of 68 years, his parents, granddaughter Heidi Helland, daughter- in- law Debbie Todd and all of his siblings.

Tommy's Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 10:30 AM, with a visitation one hour prior, in Korsmo Funeral and Cremation Service, Moorhead, MN. Burial will be in Lanstad Lutheran Cemetery, rural Perley, MN.
