Theresa K. Samuels

Theresa K. (Ledeboer) Samuels passed away Sunday, May 12, 2024, at Eventide Senior Living in Moorhead, MN, at the age of 101.

Theresa was born December 16, 1922, to Garrett G. and Mary (Breems) Ledeboer, in Prinsburg, MN, where they lived until they moved to Moorhead, where her father worked in the cattle business.

Theresa graduated from Moorhead High School and then moved to California for work.  While in California, she met Benjamin Samuels, who was in the Army and Air Guard.   They were united in marriage on September 29, 1943.  Theresa worked at multiple jobs during those early years.  

Shortly after their marriage, they welcomed their first son, Gary, on February 22, 1945, while living in Pomona, California.   In Ben’s service to the country, they moved many times, 33 to be exact!  On September 2, 1955, they welcomed their second son, Mark, while living in Phoenix, Arizona.  

Ben retired from the Air Force in 1968, and they moved to Moorhead, to be closer to Theresa’s family.  Theresa volunteered at the Moorhead Thrift Store for 20 years, before retiring, so they could travel.

Theresa is survived by her son, Gary, who lives in Gates, North Carolia, and Mark (Peggy), who live in Moorhead; her grandson, Michael (Erin) Samuels, and great-granddaughter, Brinley, who live in White Bear Lake, MN; one brother, Leroy; and one sister, Linda.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben, in 2005; parents, Garrett and Mary; sisters, Evelyn, Joyce, Myrna, Marion, and Dorothy; and brothers, Garrett, Marty, and Allen.

Visitation for Theresa will be Friday, May 17, 2024, from 5 – 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral and Cremation Service, Moorhead.  Her funeral will be Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 2:30 PM, in First Presbyterian Church, Moorhead.  Burial will take place in Moorhead Memorial Gardens.
