Terrace "Terry" J. Sebestl

October 16, 1941 — February 5, 2019

Terrace "Terry" Sebestl went to meet Jesus on Tuesday, February 5, 2019, at the age of 77. He was born to Anton and Rose (Wambach) Sebestl on October 16, 1941, in Fargo, ND, and grew up in Georgetown, MN.

He graduated in 1960 from Moorhead Senior High and enlisted in the US Navy in September 1960, and studied aviation electronics. He was classed as an aviation storekeeper and was stationed in Japan at Atsugi Air Base. He was honorably discharged in September 1964. In 1965, he married Mary Ann Snider. They later divorced but remained friends.

Terry worked for the United States Postal Service in Moorhead, MN, for thirty years. He also worked part time at the Clay County Law Enforcement Center, retiring in 2007. Terry belonged to the Knights of Columbus and was an active member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Georgetown.

Terry had many hobbies including beekeeping and coin collecting. Terry was an avid gardener and he loved to show others his yard. He loved to sit in his screened-in porch and watch the birds. He enjoyed many trips and outings with his girlfriend, Nickie, until she passed. Terry's greatest love was his love for Christ. He was a faithful servant and a devout Catholic. He lead by example and instilled these values into his children and grandchildren. His advice was to keep close to God. He was a loving father, brother, and grandfather, and he will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

The family would like to thank Hospice of the Red River Valley for the care and love he was given in the last six months. He was especially fond of his Hospice nurses, Dawn and Andrea, whom he considered family. A special thank you to Father Raul, his priest, but more importantly his friend. He treasured this relationship.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Rose Sebestl; and his love, Nicole Keisacker.

He is survived by his two sisters, Marci (Norval) Lee, Fort Myers, FL, and Lana Starr (Jack Halvorson), Grand Rapids, MN; children, Brad (Audrey Hettwer) Sebestl, Fargo, Cathy (Michael Johnson) Sebestl, Fargo, and Matthew Sebestl, Moorhead; grandchildren, Kimberlee Oseles, Denver, CO, Logan Sebestl, Fargo, and Hunter Sebestl, Fargo.
