Shirley Henry

Theresa Shirley (Krauth) Henry, 95, of Fargo, ND, recently of Moorhead, MN, and formerly of Franklin Lake near Pelican Rapids, MN, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo.

Shirley was born January 5, 1931, to Lambert and Marie (Doll) Krauth in Dumont, MN. Her family later moved to Downer, MN, and then to Barnesville, MN, where she met her future husband, David A. “Duff” Henry. She graduated from Barnesville High School in 1949.

Shirley married David on February 1, 1951, at Assumption Catholic Church in Barnesville. They made their home in Downer until 1957, when they moved to Dilworth, MN, and in 1979 to their home on Franklin Lake. There, they hosted family for many memorable Christmases and gatherings until David’s death in 2008. Shirley moved to Moorhead in 2010, where she lived until 2025.

Shirley attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Moorhead and was a former member of St. Mary’s of the Lake Catholic Church and St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Dilworth. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, knitting, playing cards, and her “stories.” She cherished time with her family and especially loved young children—always ready to hold and care for them. Shirley kept cookies and treats on hand for children who visited, no matter where she lived.

Shirley is survived by five daughters: Gail (Gary) Williams of Barnesville, MN; Donna (Steve) Breyer of Frontier, ND; Carol (Arnie) Mertens of Bemidji, MN; Lois (Michael) McCullough of Argusville, ND; and Joan (Petar Poucki) Henry of Sparta, TN; 13 grandchildren: Jeremy (Laura) Williams of St. Hilaire, MN; Jenny (Rob) Kinder of Fargo, ND; Jarrod (Nikki) Williams of Moorhead, MN; Kara (Eric) Hagemeister of Fargo, ND; Jessie (Luke) Ouradnik of Fargo, ND; Tricia (Tim) Welch of Bemidji, MN; Marissa Lemke of Bemidji, MN; Nathan Gillette of Fargo, ND; Brandon (Lindsay) Gillette of Fargo, ND; Kadie (Rob) Persson of Panama City Beach, FL; Kayla (Nathaniel Kohler) Gillette of Fargo, ND; Alec (Kayla) Marentic of Mountain View, HI; and Taylor Marentic of Pittsburgh, PA; 23 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Arlene Mulacahy and Mary Jean Ernst.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, David “Duff” Henry; her parents, Lambert and Marie Krauth; and her siblings, Muriel, Joan, Richard, Rita, Terry, and two infant siblings.

Funeral Mass: Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Moorhead, Minnesota.

Visitation: One hour before Mass on Saturday at the church.

Rosary: 9:30 a.m., prior to the visitation.

Interment: 1:30 p.m. at Moorhead Memorial Gardens, Moorhead, Minnesota.
