Ronald Keith Strom was born on January 23, 1942, to Gordon and Mabel (Bergerson) Strom in Detroit Lakes, MN. His mother died when he was two years old, and he was adopted by his uncle and aunt Oliver and Hattie Strom. He lived on a farm in rural Lake Park, MN. Ron attended school in Lake Park and graduated high school in 1960. After graduating from High School, he attended Wahpeton School of Science where he studied autobody and the sheet metal trade. In 1963, he joined the Air National Guard, serving for four years.
He met his wife, of over 56 years, Carol Momb, at Bud’s Roller Rink in Moorhead. They were married at Egelund Church on May 9, 1970. Ron & Carol started their married life in Moorhead. In 1973, they purchased property in rural Lake Park and cleared the land to build a house where they raised their family.
If you asked Ron what were the most important things in his life, he would say his faith in God and his family. He was an active member in his church, Faith Hope Love Church, in Moorhead where he regularly attended church and participated in several mission trips. He worked hard and sacrificed much to send his three children to Park Christian School and Oak Grove Lutheran High School.
Ron was an active member of the Local 10 Sheet Metal Union for over 50 years. He worked all over the Midwest and retired in 2005. He enjoyed deer hunting with his brothers & nephews. Ron was known amongst his family and friends for his lifelong passion for vintage cars. He restored and sold many cars in his days, but his favorite was his 1931 Model A Ford Victoria, which he enjoyed showing at area car shows. He also enjoyed reading, watching action movies and belonged to the Lake Park Historical Society. Ron had a love for travel and would travel to many places including California, Alaska, Iceland, Norway and seven trips to China.
He is survived by his wife, Carol of Lake Park, three children: Sara (Nathan) Peterson of Barnesville, MN, Andrew (Shannon) Strom of Maple Plain, MN, and Rachel Strom of Hawley, MN; five grandchildren: Anna and Henry Peterson, Oliver and William Strom, and Aaron Strom; eight siblings: Richard Strom, Virginia Stottrup, Jean Ann (David) Thompson, Charles (Brenda) Strom, Elaine Taylor, Edward (Jeanine) Strom, Joann (Dan) Gillespie, and Brian (Janet) Strom; sister-in-law Sharon Strom; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Ron was preceded in death by his birth father and mother Gordon and Mabel Strom, his parents Oliver and Hattie Strom; Sister: Dorothy Schaffer, Brother: Allan Strom; in laws: Raymond Schaffer, Melba Strom, Howard Stottrup, and Larry Taylor.
Visitation will be from 5-7 PM, Friday, August 7, 2026, at Korsmo Funeral Service with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, at Korsmo Funeral Service in Moorhead. Burial will be held Saturday at 3:30 PM at Egelund Cemetery, Rochert, MN.
