Roger Sorenson, 93, of Fargo, ND, passed away Thursday, September 4, 2025, in SMP Health – St. Andrew’s in Bottineau, ND.
Roger Leonard Sorenson was born January 29, 1932, the son of John and Amy (Lindmark) Sorenson, near Leonard, MN. He was raised near Leonard where he attended school. Roger then served honorably in the U.S. Army during post WWII and at the beginning of the Koren Conflict. Upon his discharge from the service, he returned to Leonard.
On April 5, 1955, he was united in marriage to Eileen Anderson. They lived in Edina, MN, before moving to Ortonville, MN, where Roger worked as an Insurance Specialist. He would later take a job with Retail Credit Company (now Equifax) as a Claims Investigator and the family relocated to Moorhead. Roger married Pamela Bakken on April 28, 1979, and they established their home in Fargo. In 1987, Roger became a Private Investigator working in investigations and surveillance for law firms and insurance companies until he retired in 2019 at the age of 87. Pam passed away on February 7, 2024.
Throughout his life, faith played a pivotal role in Roger’s journey. He and Pam were instrumental in establishing the Cornerstone Coffee Ministry and later, the Open Door 65 ministry, which reflects their commitment to faith and community service.
In his leisure time, Roger enjoyed reading Western literature and films. He also found joy in attending Steam Threshing Reunions, particularly at Itasca, where his family was honored with a commemorative wall celebrating history of his father’s sawmill and logging operations.
Roger will be dearly missed by his children, Ben (Amy Thorson) Sorenson, Anjela (Bryan) Brekhus, and Kit (Shain) Lang; fourteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Doreen Nichols, Larry Sorenson, Mervin (Naomi) Sorenson, Marlys “Kye” (Terry) Maveus, Wayne (Diane) Sorenson, and Lance (Monica) Sorenson; sister-in-law, Joyce Sorenson and Louis Sorenson; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Pamela; daughter, Sheri; and brothers, Raymond, Leslie, and Gordon; and sister Delores “Dee” Jepson: and his beloved brothers and sisters-in-laws.
