Rodney Wyland, 103, of Glyndon, MN, died Sunday, January 7, 2024, at Eventide Living, Moorhead.

Rodney Harold Wyland was born July 2, 1920, the son of Clarence and Gina (Tweten) Wyland in rural Hawley, MN. He was raised on farms in rural Hawley and Glyndon. He graduated from Glyndon High School in 1938.

On December 26,1951, Rodney was united in marriage to Eunice Boe at her parents’ farm in Pelican Rapids, MN. They made their home near Glyndon where they farmed and raised five children. In the 1990s, they built a home on Lake Lizzie. For many years during the winters, Rodney and Eunice spent their time in Mesa, Arizona where they enjoyed visiting and playing cards with family and friends.

Rodney’s life was guided by his strong faith in the Lord. He was a devoted husband and father, always sharing unconditional love for his family and putting their needs before his own. Rodney had a gentle spirit combined with a great sense of humor and gift of wonderful storytelling. He was also active in the Glyndon Rod and Gun Club, Glyndon Lutheran Church, Glyndon Lions Club and Eagles.

Rodney was very active. He enjoyed playing croquet and cards, hiking, biking, lawn bowling and socializing. He also had a love for learning, going on drives to observe fields, and traveling, but most of all he enjoyed spending countless hours with family. Attending family events was important to him, even going to Europe at 98 years young.

Rodney is survived by children, Dan (Sharla) Wyland, Canby, OR, Roger (Shirleen) Wyland, Gary Wyland, Dave Olek (son-in-law) all of Glyndon, MN, and Alan (Rita) Wyland, Altamonte Springs, FL; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
