Rodney E. Stueland, age 85, passed away on Monday, November 6, 2023, at his residence in Fargo, ND, surrounded by his family and under care of Hospice.

Rodney Eugene Stueland was born on August 9, 1938, in Westby, WI, to Theodore and Hazel (Oftedahl) Stueland. He graduated from Viroqua High School in Wisconsin in 1956 and went on to complete his education at Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis, MN in 1958.

Following the completion of his studies, Rodney began working as a hired farm hand in rural Viroqua. He later joined Hauge Innermission and was eventually called to serve as an evangelist for the Canadian Hauge Innermission.

In June of 1960, Rodney met Barbara Dietsche. Despite Rodney being in Canada at the time, they continued their courtship through letters. On June 10, 1961, they were married in Sand Creek, WI. Following their marriage, Barbara and Rodney relocated to Canada to continue their service with Hauge Innermission. In 1962, they moved to Plymouth, MN and in 1964 settled in Sacred Heart, MN where they served at First English Lutheran Church.

Later on, Rodney and Barbara resided in Renville, MN, where Rodney drove school bus and provided pulpit supply for a local church. From 1970-1998, they faithfully ministered at multipoint parishes encompassing Newfolden, MN; Buxton ND; Mayville ND; Roslyn SD; Kenyon MN; and Roseau MN. They concluded their ministry in Mondovi, WI before retiring.

Upon retirement, Rodney and Barbara made their home in Dilworth, MN for 17 years. In February 2022, they moved to south Fargo. Rodney recently retired from his position as the editor of the Morning Glory in August of 2023.

Rodney will be remembered and missed by his wife of 62 years, Barbara; their five children, Ranee (Marlow) Nash of Colfax, ND; Rhoda (Mark) Liden of Fargo, ND; Paul Stueland of Apache Junction, AZ; Luther (Jodie) Stueland of West Fargo, ND; and Nathan (Amanda) Stueland of Casa Grande, AZ; He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Jennifer (Nick) Maltby, Benjamin (Annie) Nash, Noah (Lauren) Nash, Melody (Brett) Loewen, Danielle (Steven) Doroff, Mariah (Alex) Joseph, Bryana Stueland, Brooklyn Stueland, Tom Stueland, Emily Stueland, Christina Stueland, Todd Stueland, Rachel Stueland, and Morgan Stueland and 23 great-grandchildren.  In addition, he is survived by sisters-in-law, Verla Stueland and Marlene Stueland; brother-in-law, Mike Anderson; cousin, Gary Stueland; and several nieces and nephews. 

Rodney was preceded in death by his parents; as well as his siblings, Robert Stueland, Dean Stueland, LaRene Hunter and Lynette Anderson; and one brother-in-law, Jim Hunter.

Funeral Service for Rodney will be held Friday, November 17, 2023, at 12pm in Liberty Lutheran Brethren Church, Fargo, ND.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.  Interment will be in Bethany Free Lutheran Cemetery, rural Abercrombie, ND.
