Fargo

Robin Gail Olien, 61, died in Fargo, surrounded by family and under the care of HIA Hospice, on October 9, 2025.

Robin was born on May 10, 1964, in Bismarck, ND, to John and Violet (McElvain) Dougan. She moved with her family to Moorhead, where she grew up and attended school, graduating early from Moorhead Senior High in 1981. She was baptized in the Church of Christ.

After high school, she attended Moorhead State University and worked in patient care at Eventide and Bethany Homes. In 1985, she married Dan Fedje, and they had 2 sons, Ian and Neil. Dan died in 2002.

In 2003, Robin married Tom Olien. She continued to take an interest in patient care, working as a live-in home health aide for a time. She was also active in assisting the refugee community in Fargo-Moorhead and fostering rescue animals. She enjoyed going out for coffee and helping others.

Robin especially enjoyed visiting her son, Ian, and his wife, Jackie, in Colorado, and spending time with her son, Neil, in Fargo, who cared for her during her final weeks. No ceremony is planned. Her remains will be honored privately by her family.

Robin was preceded in death by her parents, John and Violet Dougan; her stepmothers, Helen Dougan and Patricia Lee; and her mother-in-law, Donna Fedje. Her brother, Quintus (Westminster, SC), passed away on October 11, 2025.

Robin is survived by her husband, Tom; her sons, Ian Dougan (Jackie McKinney) of Fort Collins, CO, and Neil Fedje of Fargo, ND; her sisters, Cheryl (Anthony Viscardi) of Bethlehem, PA, and Eileen of St. Petersburg, FL; her grandson, Bruce, many nephews and nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces; and friends who loved her dearly.
