Robert Thompson Jr., age 76, of Baker, MN, died unexpectedly on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at his home, Baker, MN.
Memorial services will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Baker, MN with Carrie Lauber, Lay Pastor, officiating.
Visitation will be 5-7 PM, Friday, June 20, 2025, at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Baker, MN with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the memorial service on Saturday.
Robert Glenn Thompson Jr. was born on May 12, 1949, to Robert and Marion (Warrey) Thompson in Fargo, ND. He grew up on a family farm in rural Baker, MN. He attended school in Barnesville and was a member of the Future Farmers of America. He graduated from Barnesville High School in 1967. He went on to attend the Wahpeton School of Science in diesel mechanics. He also served in the Air National Guard.
He married Marilee Herbranson at Rollag Lutheran Church in September of 1969. They welcomed their daughter, Cheri.
He was united in marriage to Cecelia Baker on November 10, 1984, and gained stepchildren Lee and Gina Langei. They welcomed their “bonus” daughter, Megan, in 1990.
Bob farmed for many years with his father, raising corn, barley, wheat, and prized potatoes for many years. He also started B & C Transport where he drove truck hauling gravel until his time of death. He retired from farming in 1988.
Bob loved to buy old cars and tractors. He was also an avid gun collector. His treasured time was family gatherings and spending time together. He was a member of the NRA and a lifetime member of Rollag Steam Threshers. He enjoyed his coffee time meetings with his buddies in Lawndale, MN.
He is survived by his wife, Cecelia “Cookie” Thompson; three children, Lee (Heather) Langei, Perley, Gina Radke, Baker, and Megan (Zach) Koeck, Rothsay; son in law, Steve Breker, West Fargo, ND; his special friend, Norm the granddog; grandchildren, Raquel (Banyn) Puhr, Mona Clemenson, James Styers III, Hunter Styers, Samuel (Sierra Anderson) Radke, Jack (Cassie) Radke, Skylar Kubitz, and Taylor Koeck; great grandchildren, Brantley Puhr, Barlow Puhr, Rhys Puhr, and Oakley Styers; two sisters, Kathy Tucker, CA, and Rebecca Burns, FL; sister in law, Marge Baker; brother in law, Ron (Cheryl) Baker; and niece, Jessica Tucker; several additional nieces and nephews .
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law Leo Baker, daughter Cheri Thompson, granddaughter Zoie English, brothers-in-laws: Dave Burns, Dale Tucker and Joe Baker, and sister-in-laws: Bev Grandbois, Jeri Baker and Jane Roberts.
