Penny Clarice Sandbek

Penny Clarice Sandbek, 77, of West Fargo, ND, passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2026, at Eventide Sheyenne Crossings in West Fargo.

Penny Clarice Sandbek was born on January 3, 1949, in Lisbon, North Dakota, to Clarence and Evelyn (Lere) Sandness. She was raised in Verona, North Dakota, where she attended country school through the ninth grade before continuing her education at Oak Grove High School in Fargo. During her junior year, she met the love of her life, Paul Sandbek. She was also a cheerleader.

After graduating, Penny attended Interstate Business School. She and Paul were united in marriage on August 21, 1971, in Fargo. They made their home in Grand Forks for five years, and Lakota for two years, eventually settling in West Fargo in 1980.

Family was Penny's greatest joy. She dedicated many years to caring for and raising her children, Ryan and Amy. Later, she worked in a variety of positions, most notably as a Medicare Adjuster with Noridian until her retirement in 2011.

Penny found happiness in life's simple pleasures. She loved tending to her gardens, taking walks, working on puzzles, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband of 55 years, Paul; her children, Ryan (Stephanie) Sandbek and Amy (Nathan) Herman; seven grandchildren; brothers, Neil (Kathy) Sandness of Fargo and Brian (Pat) Sandness of Menomonie, Wisconsin; sister-in-law, Elaine (Bob) Johnson of Fresno, California; and several nieces and nephews.

Penny was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Evelyn; brothers, Gary and Jon Sandness; and brother-in-law, Terry.

Visitation will begin at noon on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, with a Memorial Services to follow at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at Korsmo Funeral Service in Moorhead, MN with Rev. Taylor Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Fargo, ND.
