Mavis T. Whisler, age 81, of Fargo, ND, died on Thursday, March 11, 2004 at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo.
Mavis Thompson, daughter of Oluf and Serena (Anderson) Thompson was born at Stewart, MN, on Dec. 6, 1922. She grew up and received her education in Stewart, where she graduated from high school in 1940.
On May 1, 1942, Mavis was united in marriage to John F. Whisler Jr., in New Orleans, LA. Following their marriage, they lived in Hutchinson, MN, North Mankota, MN, Thief River Falls, MN, and Moorhead, MN.
In 1962, the family moved to Bismarck, ND, where they lived for 15 years. The lived in Dickinson, ND for five years, and moved to Fargo, in 1982, where they have lived since. Her husband, John, died on March 2, 2002.
Mavis is survived by two daughters, Lynn Becker, Fargo, and Merilee (Dan) Ottoson, Pelican Rapids, MN; a son, Tom Whisler, Wickenburg, AZ; a sister, Viola Bemis, Litchfield, MN; a brother, Orville Thompson, Litchfield; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Sunday, from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM
Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead, and
one hour before the funeral, at the church.
Funeral service: Monday, March 15, 2004, at 2:00 PM

Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Fargo, ND.
