Mary L. Mathison

Mary L. Mathison, aged 92, formerly of Moorhead, MN, peacefully passed away, after a family visit on May 30, 2025, at St. Raphael Nursing Home in Valley City, ND.

Mary Leona Nosal was born on January 17, 1933, in Alliance Township near Barnesville, MN. She spent her formative years in the area, attending local schools. A devoted member of her faith, she was baptized and confirmed at Assumption Catholic Church in Barnesville. On September 26, 1956, Mary married Allen Mathison, and together they made their home in Moorhead, where they raised their two sons, Rodney and Kevin.

Throughout her career, Mary worked in various capacities across the Fargo/Moorhead region, ultimately retiring in her 70s. She had a passion for decorating her home, flower gardening, and was renowned for her baking skills, often preparing treats for friends and family. An active member of her community, Mary participated in St. Joseph’s Neighbors at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Moorhead.

Mary is survived by her two sons and their spouses, Rodney and Cherie of Perham, MN, and Kevin and Merriam in the Philippines; her two grandchildren, Cassandra and Tyler; her sister, Tina Garrison; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mary Nosal; her husband, Allen, who passed away in 2002; as well as seven sisters and one brother.

Mary’s funeral will be held on Thursday, June 5 at 11AM in Korsmo Funeral and Cremation Service of Moorhead. Visitation will be one hour prior. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Moorhead.
