Mary Delores Knutson

Mary Delores Knutson, 69, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Tuesday January 17, 2023, in Essentia Health, Fargo, ND.

Mary was born on September 10, 1953, to Albert and Delores (Gunderson) Knutson, in Moorhead, MN. Mary was raised in Moorhead, she graduated from Moorhead Senior High School in 1972. Mary was baptized at Pontoppidan Lutheran Church, in Fargo and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead. Mary started attending The Lutheran Church of Christ the King shortly after they opened in Moorhead, where she was confirmed in 1969.         

After high school Mary went to school at Vocational Technical Institute, in Moorhead, for the secretarial program. After graduation she worked at various jobs in Moorhead, before moving to Detroit Lakes with her twin sister, Marlene, where she lived until 1999. She returned to Moorhead where she worked for Noridian until her retirement in 2010.

Mary loved the outdoors. She enjoyed flowers and tending to the garden, hiking, and swimming, bird watching and bike riding. She really enjoyed the days they spent at the family lake home, on West McDonald Lake. She loved spending time with her family, especially her twin and sister, Dianne.

Mary is survived by her twin sister, Marlene Knutson; brother, George (Laura) Knutson; sister, Beverley (David) Sorgen; nieces, Trish (Chris) Adams, Carson Knutson, and Mallory (Ben) Annear; nephew, Mike (Melissa) Grove; grand- nieces and nephews, Kate, Kellyn, Blake, Devon, Max, Madison, and Maceo; aunt, Dorothy Knutson; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Dianne Knutson-Davis; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Mary’s funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at 11 AM, in Korsmo Funeral and Cremation Service, Moorhead, MN. A visitation will be one hour prior. Burial will be in Moorhead Memorial Gardens, Moorhead. The funeral will be livestreamed on Mary’s obituary page at www.korsmofuneralservice.com.
