Mary E. Cegla

Mary Elizabeth Cegla, 61, of Dilworth, MN, passed away Friday, May 23rd, 2025, in her home.

Mary E. Sarbaum was born February 19th, 1964, the daughter of Pauline (Donald) Thompson Sarbaum. She was raised in Moorhead and graduated from Moorhead High School in 1982. On June 16, 1984, she was united in marriage to Ronald Cegla in St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Moorhead.

Mary and Ron began their life together living in Moorhead and Glyndon before ultimately establishing their home in Dilworth. In the beginning of their marriage, Mary was a stay-at-home mom raising her children until her youngest started school. She then began working for Moorhead Youth Hockey in charitable gaming and would later serve as the gamming manager for the VFW.

Mary was a talented artist, sharing many paintings and poems over the years, leaving a lasting impression on family and friends. She could bake and barbecue like no other. Mary especially cherished moments spent at the lake with family, both hunting and fishing, but particularly Walleye fishing with Ron.

Mary was known for being an incredible wife and the best mom to her kids, as well as for being a second mom to many friends of the family. She had the best listening ears to anyone who needed them. She always had a quick wit to her, full of laughter and love. Mary lit up the lives around her, making the bad times more bearable and the good times shine brighter.

Mary will be deeply missed by her husband, Ronald; children, Dustin (Jill) Cegla and Cody (Beth) Cegla, both of Dilworth, MN, Heather Cegla, Kenilworth, UK, and John (Jess Gomez) Cegla, Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Broden (Dustin and Jill), Kenley and Lane (Cody and Beth); brothers, Michael Sarbaum, Fargo, ND, and Timothy (Courtney) Sarbaum, Parkesburg, PA; sister, Rebecca Stout, Moorhead, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A Gathering of Family and Friends for Mary will begin at 2:00 PM, Friday, May 30, 2025, followed by a Celebration of Her Life beginning at 3:00 PM, in Korsmo Funeral and Cremation Service, Moorhead.

She will be laid to rest in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Moorhead, MN.
