Marjorie M. Kukowski

Marjorie Marie Kukowski (94) was born on May 17, 1931, in Moorhead, MN, to George W. and Helen (Barclay) Fischer. She was raised and grew up in Georgetown, MN. She attended Georgetown Dist. #10 School and Hendrum High School, then graduated from Moorhead High School in 1949 after the District lines were changed.

Margie married William “Bill” Kukowski of Georgetown at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Georgetown on November 29, 1950. They farmed at Georgetown and raised their family in the community. Margie spent all of her life in the Georgetown community. She worked at various jobs as a teenager to help support her family’s income. After marriage, she was a full-time mother and farm wife; cooking and taking care of everyone. She had many hobbies which included crocheting, embroidery, diamond dotting, but mostly trying new recipes and cooking for her family. Her greatest love was when her grandchildren and great grandchildren came to visit. She and Bill started spending winters at The Resort in Mesa, Arizona in 1981 with her B Street family and friends. After Bill’s death in 1986, she continued to spend her winters there until her death.

Margie was an active member of St. John’s Christian Women, the Mother’s Club, Georgetown Community Club, Georgetown School committees, and as a 4-H adult leader helping with many 4-H Horse Shows.

Margie passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2025, at Eventide Nursing Home under the care of HIA Hospice and surrounded by her family.

Margie is survived by her six children: Kathy (Larry) Richards, Dilworth, MN, Deb O’Shea, Tucson AZ, Steve (Jaye) Kukowski, Sierra Vista AZ, Karen Clark, Georgetown, Dan Kukowski, Pelican Rapids, MN, and Paul (Deb) Kukowski, Georgetown. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jenny (Randy) Korslien, Melissa Richards, Becky Richards, Lori (Nathan) Germundson, John (Michael) O’Shea, Jessica (Matt) Johnsrud, Jeremy (Dana) Clark, Krystle (Cliff) Tollefson, Jake (Breonna) Clark, Danielle (Bryan) Houts, and Caitlin Kukowski; great grandchildren, Cade, Carter, and Callie Korslien, Kaylynn, MacKenzie and Julia Hareland, Gabe Scheuerell, Parker, Sydney and Erika Germundson, Elliot Johnsrud, Alex and Andrew Clark, Tenley, Hayden and Griffin Tollefson, Hallie and Beau Houts, and Chloe Clark; her special dog friend Louie; and Godchildren, Julie Scoville, Mark Maring, Larry Fischer, Teresa Ohnstad and Loretta Sauvageau.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; siblings, George Jr. (Donna), Jean (Jim) Oberg; infant sister, Kathleen; brother-in-law, Jim Ohnstad; and son-in-law, Herman Clark.

A Visitation for Marjorie will be Friday, December 26, 2025, from 5:00 PM until 6:30 PM, with a 6:30 PM Prayer Service in St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Moorhead, MN. Visitation will continue one hour prior to her Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at 11:00 AM in St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. Then burial will take place in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Georgetown, MN.
