Maren Lynn Bakken, 83, formerly of Drake, ND, died Monday, December 4, 2023 at her home in Moorhead MN.

Maren was born March 20, 1940, to Robert and Sarah (Baccus) Rosenquist in Moorhead, MN. In 1947, she was adopted by Henning and Gladys Rossebo from Drake, ND.  Maren attended Drake Public School and graduated from Drake High School in 1958 where she was active in high school activities which included band and choir.  

Maren was united in marriage to Lyle Bakken on November 23, 1958, in Trinity Lutheran Church in Drake. They soon started a family, welcoming their first of four children, Michael in 1959, Nancy in 1960, Derek in 1967 and Kyle in 1969.

While living in Drake, Maren was active in many community organizations.  She was active with Trinity Lutheran Church, Bridge Club, and was instrumental in assisting Lyle in expanding his banking business to   Anamoose, ND and Butte, ND. 

 In 1997, Maren and Lyle retired. They moved to Sun City West, AZ until June of 2021. While living in Sun City West, Maren was a member of Lord of Life Lutheran Church and kept herself busy working for a local podiatrist and volunteering at the church thrift store. Maren cherished time with her family, especially time spent with her grandchildren.  In June 2021, Maren and Lyle moved to Moorhead to enjoy time with family and friends.

She is survived by her children. Michael (Shannon) Bakken, Nancy Bakken, Derek (Janet) Bakken and Kyle (Jeanne) Bakken; 13 grandchildren, Sasha, McKenzie, Ayla, James, Sara, Andrea, Alexis, Aleah, Jonah, Keegan, Kiana, Kyla and Kaleb; six great-grandchildren, Logan, Lainey, Miles, Tate, William and Tyler; brother, Gerald Siverson; nieces and nephews, Lynn, Rob, Darcy, Angie, Megan and Ron; and close family friend, Chelsey.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lyle (June 2022); her parents; brother, Robert; and sister, Judy.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, December 29, 2023, at 1PM in Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Moorhead.  Family and friends will gather one hour prior.  Interment will be in the spring at Drake City Cemetery.
