Malvina L. Moe

September 8, 1929 — May 30, 2021

Malvina Leone Moe, age 91, of Fargo, ND, passed away on May 30, 2021, in Bethany on University in Fargo.

Malvina, the daughter of George and Bertha (Aune) Berntson, was born on September 8, 1929, in the family home on the farm in Silvesta Township, Walsh County, ND. She attended school grades 1-8 in the Silvesta 82 country school. She completed grades 9 & 10 at Adams (ND) High School and then graduated in 1947 from Oak Grove Lutheran High School, Fargo. She attended and graduated from Lutheran Deaconess Hospital in Minneapolis, MN, with her RN degree in nursing. Her first job as a nurse was with
Grafton Deaconess Hospital in Grafton, ND.

Malvina was baptized, confirmed, and married in rural Hitterdahl Lutheran church. She married Curtis Moe in 1952 and they made their home in Fargo, where she did private duty nursing and was later employed at St. Luke's Hospital. Following St. Luke's, she was employed as the school nurse at Oak Grove Lutheran High School for 25 years. While at Oak Grove, she was able to accompany the concert choir on several tours.

Malvina could always be counted on as a prayer warrior and had a heart willing to serve. She attended and was very active at Pontoppidan Lutheran Church in Fargo and volunteered at Oak Grove, where she became known as the 'Rommegrot Queen" during the annual Bazaar. She also spent many hours caring for both her parents and Curt's parents. She cherished time spent with her three grandchildren, never missing their school's "Grandparents Day" or other special events. Many memories were also made with family and friends during summers on Leech Lake and even a few winters in Palm Springs.

She is survived by her stepdaughter, Pamila (Bob) Ward; son, Philip (Jolene) Moe; grandchildren, Lisa (Jesse) Young, Kristin Heyne, and Daniel Moe; great-grandchildren, Caleb and Jaylee Young, and Kaison, Kinley, and Cambrie Heyne; sister, Carol Haugen; brothers, Luther (Helen) Berntson and Bernard (Cathy) Berntson; along with many nieces and nephews.
