Lyle R. Rasmussen, 73, of Fargo, ND, passed away suddenly on Thursday, August 7, 2025.
Lyle Robert was born on October 6, 1951, in Moorhead, MN, to Wallace and Alice (Brodigan) Rasmussen. Lyle was raised in Moorhead, attending St. Joseph’s Catholic School, and graduating from Moorhead High School in 1969. He went on to attend Moorhead Technical School for Drafting, graduating with an Associate’s degree.
On June 11, 1971, Lyle was united in marriage to the love of his life Jennifer Evans at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Moorhead. Lyle served time with the US Army 1971 – 1973 in Germany. After discharge Lyle and Jennie made their home in Moorhead and raised their children. Lyle worked at Ulteig Engineers in Fargo in Electrical Design for 19 years and Red River Valley Cooperative in Halstad, MN, as Director of Operations for 6 ½ years before going into Real Estate. He has worked for Berkshire Hathaway for the past 25 years.
Lyle grew up the fourth child of ten but the oldest boy, and his siblings often referred to him as the “King.” He always looked forward to his annual golf weekend with his brothers. His family will always remember Lyle’s spaghetti served at many family parties. He was proud of his Irish Catholic background and large family. The family including all his cousins and their families enjoyed the St. Patty’s Day Parade in Downtown Fargo for over 20 years.
Lyle has a love for family. He was always spoiling his grandchildren. They said Grandpa was just a goofy guy when it would come to them, they got to see the goofy silly side of him and that is special. Often, they would accompany him to run his work errands which usually included stops at the gas station where they were told to pick out anything they wanted for treats and always ended with a stop for Dairy Queen. They also have fond memories of Grandpa in the Pontoon learning to fish and going for boat rides. They remember Grandpa loved Diet Coke, and Nutty Buddy’s and unbeknownst to anyone else except the Grandkids he would hide the Nutty Buddy’s, so he didn’t have to share them with anyone!
Lyle and Jennie spent the Winter months in Bullhead City, Az, where they spent much of their time golfing with their friends, and gambling at the Casino’s in Laughlin, NV. During the summer months they spent most of their time at their Camper at Bylander’s Resort since 1991. Lyle was often found watching golf, or Law and Order with the love of his life Jennie.
Lyle was a Fiduciary for many Veterans over the last many years; he didn’t only just pay their bills and manage their books he always seemed to care so much for their everyday wellbeing. He also owned and managed many rental properties over the years. Past tenants will attest to the opportunity they were given by Lyle when they needed it most without judgment.
Lyle was known for his generous heart. Many people looked up to Lyle for guidance and mentorship. He could always be counted on to help with whatever was needed at any given time.
