Louise Fandetta Simon, the daughter of Dr. John and Jennie Mae (Hawley) Simon, was born at Kintyre, ND, on June 25, 1916. She grew up in Kintyre and in Napoleon, ND, where she graduated from high school in 1935. Louise attended First Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing, in Chicago, IL.
On March 11, 1937, Louise married Alphonse W. Loehrer, at Chicago. They lived in Chicago until 1945, when they moved to Napoleon, and farmed. Louise taught at a rural school in the Napoleon area for a year. Alphonse died on May 1, 1953. After his death, Louise moved to Iowa City, IA, to live for a year.
Louise married John "Jack" Speyers on December 16, 1954, at Napoleon. They farmed near Napoleon. In 1975, they moved into Napoleon, and in 1977, moved to Fargo, ND.
Since coming to Fargo, Louise had been active in the "Senior Companion" program. Jack died on Oct. 21, 1982. After his death, she continued to live in her home on South University Drive in Fargo.
In September of 2003, Louise F. Speyers became a resident of Manorcare Health Services in Fargo. She died there on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at the age of 87. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by a son, John S. Loehrer; a stepdaughter, Delores Meade; an infant sister, Edith Simon; and brothers Frank and Roy Simon.
Louise is survived by two daughters, Jennie (Charles) Rousu, Fargo, and Jane (Myron) Hammer, Kathryn, MN; three stepdaughters, Norma Thomas, Kellogg, ID, ElRose Marie (Bill) Hallock, Jamestown, ND, and Carol Altman, Nashville, TN; two stepsons, Lyle W. H
