Louise Alvina Nettleton, 92, Moorhead, MN, died Sunday, August 30, 2020, in Sanford on Broadway, Fargo, ND.
Louise was born December 3, 1927, in Bemidji, MN. After high school she attended college at Bemidji State University, graduating as valedictorian of her class, receiving her master's degree in education. In 1956, Louise was united in marriage to John Nettleton. John and Louise began their careers in Peabody, Kansas. John was the high school principal and Louise taught music. They moved to Oberlin, KS, where John pursued his doctoral degree. From Oberlin, they moved to Sterling, CO.
In 1970, John and Louise made their home in Moorhead. They soon became active at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead, serving on several committees over the years. Louise continued teaching and finished her career as the Director of Communications at Concordia College. Louise also worked as a free lance editor for local authors, newspapers, and magazines. She enjoyed singing with the church choir, sharing her love for reading as a member of Great Books, and volunteering her time, helping those in need. One of the highlights of her life, was when Louise and her best friend Dorothy Moore, bicycled throughout Europe twice, during their college years. John and Louise enjoyed travelling throughout the U.S. during the winter months. They travelled in Canada, Mexico and Europe, taking in as much history possible. They witnessed two space shuttles take off from Kennedy Space Center in Florida and the landing of one at Edwards Air Force Base in California.
Family was everything to Louise. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed dearly by her family.
Louise is survived by her two sons; Dwight Nettleton of Fargo, ND, Jon (Susie Johnson) of Lake Park, MN, along with two grandchildren; James Nettleton of Moorhead and Sarah (Mike) Stock of Fargo. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren; Ariel, Myra and Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John Nettleton (2008), and several siblings.
A Private Graveside Service will be held Friday, September 4, 2020, in Prairie Home Cemetery, Moorhead.
