Loretta B. Olson

Loretta B. Olson, 79, of Moorhead, MN, died Saturday, July 4, 2026, at HIA Heather’s House in Fargo, ND.

Loretta Bernice Nelson was born on August 14, 1946, in Detroit Lakes, MN, to Raymond and Erma (Brinkman) Nelson. She grew up in Hawley, MN, and graduated from Hawley High School in 1964.

On July 31, 1965, Loretta married Roland Olson in Hawley. They made their home in Moorhead and were blessed with one son, Larry.

From 1966 to 1968, Loretta worked at Silver Line Boats in Moorhead. She then began a 39‑year career at Fargo Leaf Laundry, serving as a production supervisor. After retiring, she continued working part‑time in the laundry department at Eventide.

Loretta enjoyed reading mysteries, word search books, computer word games, gardening, walking her dog, Cody, and spending time at Maud Lake. She treasured visiting with friends and attending her 60th class reunion in Hawley.

She is survived by her sister, Becky Holm of Lakewood, WA; her brother, Timothy Ose of Roseville, MN; her niece, Angie Rezek; her nephew, Brian Holm; and her grandniece, Kaia Rezek.

She was preceded in death by her son, Larry; her husband, Roland; her sister, Kay Nelson; and her parents.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Loretta’s friends, relatives, neighbors, and the HIA Hospice team for their care, kindness, and support.

The Funeral Service for Loretta will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2026 at 11 AM at Pontoppidan Lutheran Church, Fargo with Visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at the Hawley Cemetery, Hawley.
