Lola R. Quam

Lola R. Quam, 90, of Fargo, ND, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, in Bethany on University, Fargo.

Lola Rose Weinkauf was born on February 15, 1936, to August and Margaret (Paulsen) Weinkauf, in Pipestone, MN. Lola was raised in Pipestone and moved to Mankato, MN, with her family. She graduated from high school in 1954 and then went on to go to college for social work.

In 1956, Lola was united in marriage to the love of her life, James Quam, in Mankato. They moved to Moorhead, MN, where they made their home, where Lola worked as a social worker. After a few years they moved to Lisbon, ND, where James and his family were from. They lived there for many years, raising their two sons, Jim and Paul. They later moved back to the Fargo/Moorhead area, where she worked at Concordia College as a librarian for 25 years.

Lola was an avid reader, part of what drew her to work as a librarian at Concordia. She also took care of her son, Paul, who was disabled and needed additional care throughout his life. Lola was a very caring person with a kind heart.

Lola is survived by her son, Jim Quam. She was preceded in death by her parents, August and Margaret; husband, James, in 1978; son, Paul , in 1995.
