Lisa Breiland

April 22, 1961 — September 16, 2020

Lisa Kay Breiland was born April 22, 1961, in Moorhead, MN, to Larry and Barbara (Edwards) Breiland. Lisa lived her entire life in the Fargo-Moorhead area. She graduated from Fargo South High School and Moorhead State University, where she earned her teaching degree in Phy. Ed, Health and Coaching.

Lisa won numerous awards for her athletic abilities and coaching. Her teaching not only reflected her academic knowledge and skill but her great love, care and interest in her students. Lisa continually encouraged her students and always wanted the very best for them.

Lisa was a woman of truth, integrity, loyalty and reflected God's character with her firm beliefs in truth and justice. Lisa had a humble heart and always tried to help those in need. She also had an immense love and care for animals, and was known for being a rescuer of stray animals, often bringing them home so she could find their owners or homes so they would be safe.

Lisa brought joy to many people's hearts with her kindness, beautiful outlook on life and wonderful sense of humor.

Lisa was a very special person. Her character continually reflected God's character. She was a virtuous woman, a mentor and the ultimate role model to many.

Lisa's ministry path changed in 2010 when she opened Apex Painting and Cleaning with Colleen Buechler. Through their work, they brought excellence and skill to each job. The people they worked for became more than customers, became lasting friendships.

Even in Lisa's last days through intense pain, she was able to whisper "hallelujah...I am blessed as she continued to keep her eyes focused on the Lord. She was recently honored with the award of Christian Sports Commission Hall of Fame award, the first woman to receive the award. The trophy reads "Lady of Christian Faith, Friend of Kids, Woman of Courage and Role Model to All."

Lisa went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, September 16, 2020, in her Moorhead home under the care of her family, friends and Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Lisa is survived by her mother, Barb Breiland; brother, Steven (Ruth) Breiland; her "sister from another mother", Colleen Buechler; aunts and uncles, Norman (Suzanne) Edwards, Shirley ("Tork") Fuglestad, Kay (Jake) Jacobson, and Lloyd (Ardis) Breiland.

She was preceded in death by her father, Larry Breiland; grandparents, Andrew and Tracy Edwards; and Georgine Breiland.
