LaVonne Schulz

LaVonne Schulz, 81, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at Essentia Hospital in Fargo, ND.

LaVonne Geist was born on February 21, 1945, to Adam and Sarah (Miller) Geist on a farm in rural Tappen, ND. She later moved to the Fargo/Moorhead area, where she worked as a server at various locations, including Perkins.

In 1978, LaVonne was united in marriage to Carl Schulz in Fargo, ND. Together, they raised LaVonne’s two children, Kim and Ernest, and made their home in Fargo. LaVonne and Carl had a loving marriage consisting of spending summers on Lake Lizzie at their family cabin and winters in Mission, TX.

LaVonne’s greatest joy was spending time with her loved ones. She especially loved her grandchildren and great-grandchild and spent as much time with them as she could. After moving to Eventide, LaVonne made multiple new friendships and treasured her morning coffees with them. She enjoyed traveling including family trips to New York, Chicago, and Vegas. Her favorite travel in her later years was spending multiple months with her sister Dorothy in Arizona over the winters. LaVonne came from a large loving family. She often enjoyed meeting up with all of them over meals. When LaVonne wasn’t playing one of her crosswords puzzles you would often find her watching her favorite game show or soap operas.

LaVonne is survived by her children, Kim (Jim) Grimley and Ernest (Ann Zimny) Johnson; grandchildren, Tucker (Jensen) Grimley, Allyson Grimley, Brittney Johnson, Natasha Johnson, and Thorn Zimny; great-granddaughter, Eleanor Grimley; and brother, Marvin Geist.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, and her parents, Adam and Sarah. She now joins many others for games of cards, marbles, and fun times, including Dorothy (Oscar), Elaine (Gibb), Harold, and many others.

LaVonne’s Memorial Service will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, September 27, 2026, with a Visitation beginning at 1 PM, located at Korsmo Funeral and Cremation Service in Moorhead, MN.
