Kenneth August Heinisch, 80, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, in Sanford Medical Center, Fargo, ND, with Cherie, Tony, Bev, and Trina by his side.

Kenneth August Heinisch was born on November 3, 1942, to August and Lucinda “Cindy” (Thurmes) Heinisch in St. Paul, MN. At the age of ten they moved to Moorhead. Ken attended St. Francis de Sales Catholic School in Moorhead. He attended high school at Shanley High School, Fargo, where he graduated in 1960. During high school Ken worked for his dad at Heinisch Scale Service. After high school Ken attended school at North Dakota School of Sciences, Wahpeton, ND, graduating with an associate’s degree. He continued to work with his dad, until he passed away in 1983. After his dad’s passing, he stepped up to help run the business along with his mom. He continued as an owner operator until he retired in 2006. In 1964 Ken joined the Army National Guard, serving his country until 1970. In the mid 70’s Kenneth Bought a house in North Fargo. In 2013, he moved to Eventide at Fairmont in Moorhead. In 2015 he moved to Tranquility Place, Moorhead, where he lived until his death.

Ken was active in beginning Experience and Children’s Beginning Experience where he made many lifelong friends.

Ken enjoyed many outdoor activities with fishing being his favorite. He enjoyed spending time at the family lake place on Lake Lizzie. Ken was an avid NDSU fan, and he especially loved women’s basketball. He took many charters to watch the championship games. Ken had a few dogs (Brandi, Jessie, and Dakota) over the years, all whom he loved dearly. Ken’s favorite slogan when he was surprised was “I will be dipped in shit.”

After 13 years of being in Kenneth’s life, Dawn and Cherie adopted Kenneth as “Their Dad.” Kenneth stuck by the girls through thick and thin and loved them both very much.

Ken’s family would like to thank Catrina and the staff at Tranquility Place for the love and care they provided Ken over the last seven and a half years.

Ken is survived by his daughters, Dawn (Tony) Altobelli and Cherie (Tony) Sager; granddaughter, Emily Sager; sister, Beverly Noonan; brother, John (Sheri) Heinisch; nieces and nephews, Ben (Melanie) Noonan, Dominic (Kris) Noonan, Matthew (Megan) Heinisch, Luke Heinisch, Olivia Heinisch, and Casey Heinisch; and lifelong high school friend, Ron Duval.

Ken is preceded in death by his parents, August and Cindy; brother, George; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Ken’s Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at 11 AM in Korsmo Funeral and Cremation Service, Moorhead. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial with military honors will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Moorhead, following a lunch.
