Kathy H. Iler

Kathy (Hoefs) Iler, 66, of Moorhead, MN, died Friday July 27, 2018, at Eventide on Eighth, Moorhead.
Kathy Helen Hoefs was born October 14, 1951, in Wilmar, MN, to Arnold Hoefs and Lorraine (Farness) Hoefs. She was welcomed by her big sister, Nancy, who shared the same birthday, 9 years apart. Kathy grew up in Willmar, MN, where she graduated high school, in 1969.
Kathy married David Iler on October 24, 1970, in Winter Haven, CA, where they resided for a short time before returning to Willmar.
Kathy and David had three children; Eric, in 1971, David (P.C.), in 1976, and Samantha, in 1978.
Kathy moved to Moorhead in 1991 and attended Moorhead State University, earning her degree in Social Work. She worked in her field at Prairie St. Johns for 7 years.
Kathy's true love has always been animals, dogs in particular. She has always had a pet, or two, or three. From the time she was a child her heart was for animals. Kathy left behind her beloved Bear, a 5 year old black lab-collie mix. He is now living with a close family friend. Bear now has a puppy brother who I hear he is enjoying and sometimes just tolerates. Mom would be happy.
When, Noah, her first grandchild was born, she was over the moon in love. Gabe and Luke came next, then Amanda , Abigail, and Tessa. Kathy adored each and every one of her grandchildren.
Kathy is survived by her children; Eric Iler (Jennifer), Elgin, Nebraska, David (P.C.) Iler, Ottertail, MN, and Samantha Thompson (Miles Nelson), Moorhead; former son-in-law, Brian Thompson, Moorhead; grandchildren, Samantha's children, Noah, Gabe, Luke, and Tessa, all of Moorhead, Eric and Jen's children, Amanda, Abigail and new arrival expected in January, all of Nebraska; sister, Nancy Coleman, St. Cloud, MN; nephews, Ryan Coleman, and Christopher Coleman; and niece, Gwen King.
A Visitation will be held on Friday, September 7, 2018, 5PM-6PM with a Life Celebration Service at 6PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. Burial will be in Willmar, at a later date.
