Katherine Mae Holweger, lovingly known as Kathy, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2026, just one month shy of her 97th birthday.

Katherine was born on March 1st, 1929, in Pekin, ND, to Mable (Arlien) and Severin Aamodt.

Kathy grew up in McVille, ND where she attended the local high school and played for the girls’ basketball team. After her graduation she met her first husband, Einor Aaser, with whom she spent a loving 16 years and chased around their 4 sons with. The family faithfully attended Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Moorhead where Kathy taught Sunday School.

After Einor’s passing, Kathy found love again and married Alfred Holweger. Through this marriage, her family grew to include 3 additional children and their daughter, completing their beautiful family. During this time, Kathy worked at Moorhead State University as a lead chef at Kise Commons.

After Alfred’s passing, Kathy moved to Sartell, MN, where she continued to stay close to family and friends. Later in life, she relocated to Tampa, FL, enjoying the warmth and sunshine in her final years.

She spent her days cheering for the MN Twins, exercising at the YMCA, attending Calvary Lutheran Church and laughing with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who were blessed by her cookies, kindness and unwavering love. Kathy will be remembered for her homemade treats, tenacity, and devotion to family. Her life was long, full, and deeply rooted in family — a legacy that will continue for generations to come.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mable (Arlien) and Severin Aamodt; husbands, Einor Aaser and Alfred Holweger; brothers, Sanford and Severin Junior; her sons, Roger, Mark and Steve; and grandsons, David and Roger Jr.

She is survived by her children, Rick (Cindy), Scott (Carey), Wayne (Laurie), Claudette (Gary), and Kristi (Ronald); 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren who all brought immense joy to her life.

Katherine had chosen to be cremated. A Memorial Service will be held at Korsmo Funeral and Cremation Service at 1PM on July 9, 2026.
