Julianne Bopp, 81, of Fargo, ND, passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2025, in Bethany on University, surrounded by family.
Julianne McDougall was born on November 17, 1943, to Donald and Roberta (Jones) McDougall, in Joliet, IL. She was raised in Oakes, ND, graduating from Oakes High School in 1961. After high school she attended North Dakota State School of Science and North Dakota State University, where she received her Bachelor of Science in home economics. On September 3, 1966, Julianne was united in marriage to Jack Bopp, in Oakes and they made their home and raised two children in Hankinson. Before her children were born, Julianne worked in Hankinson as a teacher, teaching home economics. She later became a comptroller for the Wahpeton Daily News.
Music was a big part of Julianne’s life. She was an organist, pianist and in college she was part of a musical dance troupe called The Melodic Caravan. In the 70s she started playing organ for churches in Hankinson. She continued playing the organ in churches after moving to Fargo, totaling over 30 years. She encouraged both of her kids to get into music, making them join band or choir in school. Julianne also enjoyed reading, watching movies and gardening. She was very proud of her rose bushes. She was a coach’s wife, supporting Jack and the teams he coached by attending every game. She loved local football teams, such as the Vikings and the Bison.
Julianne is survived by her children, David (Tokiko) Bopp, and Jen (Austin) Jordahl; grandchildren, Tyler, Tenshi, and Sakura; siblings, Robert (Carol) McDougall, Jan (Larry) Ahrens, and Jon (Leigh) McDougall; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack and her parents, Donald and Roberta.
Julianne’s memorial service will be Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at 10 am, in Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, Fargo with a visitation one hour prior. The burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery, Hankinson, ND, at 2 PM on Wednesday, July 2,2025.
