Joy W. Dryden, 84, Fargo, ND, died Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at SMP Health - St. Catherine's North.

Born and raised on a farm near Sidney, Iowa, Joy's early life was enriched by his love for horses.  Among his many achievements, one that brought him great joy was the restoration of his 1949 Ford. With meticulous care and a Singer sewing machine, Joy transformed the vehicle into a vibrant symbol of his craftsmanship.

Following his graduation from high school, Joy dedicated eight years of his life to serving in the Air Force. He spent five years stationed in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina before being transferred to Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage, Alaska for the remaining three years of service. His commitment to duty and honorable service made an indelible mark on those who had the privilege of working alongside him.

Upon his discharge from the Air Force, Joy returned to Omaha, Nebraska where he embarked on a remarkable entrepreneurial journey. He founded an industrial diamond company that thrived under his leadership for 37 years until his retirement at the age of 83. Passionate about his work, Joy's dedication and expertise contributed significantly to the success and standing of his business within the industry.

Joy is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Joanne; daughter Kim Thorpe; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
