Joy Ann Clukey-Cloutier

June 17, 1955 — June 27, 2020

Joy Ann Clukey-Cloutier, 65, Fargo, ND, died June 27, 2020 in Sanford Medical Center, Fargo.
Joy Ann Clukey was born June 17, 1955 in White Earth, MN, to Donald and Genevieve (Sloan) Clukey and resided in Detroit Lakes, MN and moved to Moorhead when she was in 5th grade. She then graduated from Moorhead High School in 1973. After high school, she ventured to Santa Barbara, CA with her best friend, Dawn, working at Sambo's Restaurant and later Denver, CO, living with family. On December 24, 1976, Joy welcomed her daughter, Jessica Joy Olson and settled in the FM area. Joy worked for K-Mart before accepting a position with Union State Bank in Fargo, along with studying elementary education at MSUM.
Joy suffered from a debilitating disease and because of this, she had to retire from work. Even in the face of her disability, Joy always wore a smile, kept a sharp mind, and had a strong will to be the best mom and grandma she could be. You never once heard her complain of the continuous pain she suffered. She adored Jessica and did whatever she could for her to be successful in life and in her faith. That same love and compassion followed her two grandsons in life and in all their activities, where she was always present and encouraging.
Joy had a private and quiet nature to her, but also the gift of gab, which allowed her to build strong relationships with family and friends. To her immediate family, she was often thought of as a part-time weather person (always updating them on the weather)! She had a "green thumb" and kept the most beautiful gardens. She was passionate about the Bible and attended many Bible studies, especially Beth Moore. Music was a large part of Joy's life. Joy was thrilled to get the chance to see "Mercy Me" in what she claimed was the Best Concert Ever! Joy loved recording genealogy, studying biblical history, spending family-time at the lake and travelling. Her travelling adventures with Jessica also took them to New York, NY, Duluth, Medora, Wichita, and Wisconsin. She especially cherished the trip she took with Jessica (and cousin, Myrn) to Russia and Denmark with Red River Dance and Performing Company, along with special family moments shared in Florida visiting her parents, Omaha, and Minneapolis watching her grandsons play sports.
Joy was such a proud and protective daughter, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, aunt, and godmother. Her passing will leave a void that will never be filled, but we know she always carried a strong Faith and now she is dancing with the angels in Heaven.
Grandma, we will take care and love "CoCo". Mom, rest in the arms of Jesus.
Joy will be remembered and missed by her daughter, Jessica (Sterling) Kuntz of Moorhead and their children, Connor and Carson; her mother, Genevieve "Gen" Clukey (Gary) of Mt. Dora, FL; and two brothers, David (Marsha) Clukey of Osage, MN and Terry (Silvia) Clukey of Ponsford, MN; along with many nieces, nephews, and her fur baby, "CoCo".
She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Clukey; and two sisters, Donnalyn "Sue" Clukey and Karen Gravalin.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, July 3, 2020, at 11AM in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Moorhead. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 2, 2020 in St. Joseph Catholic Church from 5pm-7pm with a 7pm Prayer Service. Visitation will also continue one hour prior to Mass on Friday. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Moorhead.
