John Tczap

John Tczap, 89, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2025, in Sanford Hospice House, Fargo, ND.

John Tczap was born on September 13, 1935, to Andrew and Anna (Palivka) Tczap, in Singac, NJ. John graduated from Passaic Valley High School, Singac, in 1953. After graduation he entered the Air Force in December of 1953 and served as an Aircraft Maintenance Technician for 28 years. He served overseas in Okinawa, Japan, The Philippine Islands, Thailand, temporarily in Vietnam, Guam, and Spain. John also served stateside in Alaska, Texas, Michigan, and North Dakota. In 1969, he was assigned to Minot (ND) Air Force base. Aside from two tours overseas to Thailand and The Philippine Islands, he remained in Minot until his retirement, in 1981. After retirement from the Air Force John continued to work as a civil service employee until he retired in 2002.

John met the love of his life in Fort Worth, TX and on September 14, 1957, John was united in marriage to Grace Keim. Together they made their home wherever the military took them.

John enjoyed hunting, fishing and outdoors. He was fortunate to spend eight years in Oscoda Michigan, on the shore of Lake Huron, and 12 years in rural Minot, ND. The best times of his life were the 20 years spent in Riverdale, ND. He loved his house overlooking Lake Sakakawea and the Missouri River. He enjoyed watching the wildlife every day. John also cherished time spent with his family and grandkids and great-grandkids. In 2008 he moved to Moorhead to be closer to family members.

John is survived by his wife of 68 years, Grace; his children, John Tczap, Elle Jenkins (Bob), Lori Dyer (Neil), Karen Bangs (Wayne), and James Tczap (Sophia).

His grandkids: Lisa Dunnigan (Joe), Alyssa Enger (Brandon), Sean Dyer (Mychal ), Michael Bangs (Brittany), Haley Heinen (Josh), Jonah Tczap (Melissa), Shelby Tczap, and Wyatt Tczap.

His great-grandkids: James, Ava, and Matthew Dunnigan, Malea, Ryker, Brecken, and Ainsley Enger, Sloane and Easton Bangs, and Ezra Heinen.

His brother Andy Tczap, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Anna and 6 siblings.
