John Sargent, 75, Fargo, ND, joined his heavenly family and Lord, on Monday, April 12, 2021, at his home in Fargo.
John was born May 6, 1945, in Valley City, ND, the son of Harold and Rebecca (Brown) Sargent. His childhood years were spent in Houston, MN, and later in La Crosse, WI. He was the typical busy boy growing up, always eager to learn something new and curious of what he could get into next.
John attended school in La Crosse and at age 18, he enlisted into the Navy. John served for six years and was based out of Pensacola, FL. After being discharged from the service, John was employed at Minnesota Valley Landscaping in Shakopee, MN, Hubbard Milling in Le Sueur, MN and Webb Pallet in Jordan, MN. John was a true lover of old country songs. Music filled his soul and impacted his life and memories of his children as well. He had several favorite singers and groups including Crystal Gayle, Alabama, Johnny Cash and Elvis, along with so many others. John had a natural mechanical aptitude and he was always ready to talk shop with anyone he came in contact with. John was an avid reader and could always be found with a western book in his hand. His favorite writer was Louis L'Amour.
One of his passions in life was driving semi-truck, which he did for over forty years for several different companies. In 2008, John met Patty Grivno on one of his deliveries to Fargo, and on May 9, 2009, they joined in marriage. They made their home in North Fargo and have truly been each other's rock in life. John loved to decorate the house and yard for every major holiday throughout the year, but his favorite was Halloween. Their display even made it on the local news one year and children came by the droves every year to see it.
John's generous, caring, humorful, witty, and loving personality will truly be missed by his family, friends, co-workers and neighbors.
John is survived by his wife, Patricia; children and grandchildren: Rebecca's children, Andrew (Molly) Hegge, Shauna Hegge, Rafel Moultrie, Terrell Hegge; Tina (James) Peka, (Bradley, Nicholas (Emily), Spencer, Haylee); Lorrie (Derrick) Reeves, (Dillion, Austin, Matthew); John Stow (Evan); Jamie (Kevin) Kamrowski (Dakota, Devin, Dominic, Diem); Tabitha (Jason) Braam (Nathan, Madison); Nicholas (Kim) Bauman (Christopher, Jordyn); three brothers, Rick (Lucy) Sargent, Harold Sargent, Jr. (Colleen), David Sargent (Mary); four sisters, Laura Carlson, Kathy Rodriquez, Becky Montgomery, Cheryl Roberts (Rocky); and several nieces, nephews and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his adoptive parents, Olga, George and John Hegge; his birth parents, Harold and Rebecca Sargent; two daughters, Rebecca Hegge and Tanya Zellmen; and one brother, Jerome Sargent.
Blessed be the memory of John, today, tomorrow, and always.
