John M. Fischer

John Fischer, 78, of Moorhead, MN, died Thursday, June 13, 2019, surrounded by his children, in Sanford Broadway Medical Center, Fargo, ND.

John was born on August 28, 1940, in Fargo, to Frederick G. and Zula L. (Barton) Fischer and was the second youngest of 14 children raised on a prominent turkey farm in north Moorhead. After attending Shanley High School, he entered a lifelong career in sales, working at Midway Electrical Supply, major appliance sales at Arvid Benson, advertising sales at KXJB-TV, 10 years as a general insurance agent, and 20 years selling steel buildings. In his spare time, he enjoyed hobby farming, woodworking and traveling with his family.

John is survived by his four children, Colleen Schaak of Minneapolis, MN, Barry (Kathie) Fischer of Prior Lake, MN, Frederick (Renae) Fischer of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Sheila (Barry) Petersen of Fargo; brother, Lawrence Fischer of Fargo; sisters, Elaine Gess of Lakewood, CO, Charlotte (Leonard) Nelson of Moorhead, Audrey Anderson of Maple Grove, MN; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; six brothers, Frederick, Robert, Vincent, Jerome, Lyle and Alan; and three sisters, Mary, Arlene and Eloise.

Visitation will be from 5-7 PM, with a wake service at 7 PM, Friday, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. A memorial mass will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, June 29, 2019, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Moorhead.

Burial will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Moorhead.
