Joanne E. Nelson

Joanne Evelyn Jensen, born on October 9, 1943, in Lake Park, MN, to Herman and Francis (Dolan) Jensen, passed away on July 6, 2026, at the age of 82 at Sanford West Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Joanne grew up in rural Lake Park, MN, and married Russel Nelson on June 12, 1970, in Fargo, ND. She dedicated over 30 years to Leef Cleaners in Fargo.

A dedicated fan of the NDSU Bison, Joanne attended many games and enjoyed playing Bingo at Chumley’s. Cooking for her family brought her joy, and she was a devoted member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Moorhead for over 40 years. Her humor and great sense of fun will be fondly remembered.

Joanne is survived by two sons: Dan (Lisa) Jensen of Dilworth, MN, and Chad (Lisa) Nelson of West Fargo, ND; nine grandchildren: Darius (Dawn) Endres of Fargo, ND, Devon (Jennifer) Endres of Dilworth, Desiree "Sam" Endres of Burnsville, MN, Danielle (Jake) Jensen of Fargo, Jon Hunter of Missouri, Chris (Kylee) Hunter of Fargo, Jeffrey Nelson of West Fargo, Parker Nelson of Grand Forks, ND, and Tobie Nelson of West Fargo, ND; 12 great grandchildren: Teresa, Savannah, Hailie, Ryanna, Conrad, Lilian, Gracie, Beau, McKenna, Jace, Paisley, and Isabelle; one brother Dave Jensen of Fargo; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Joanne was preceded in death by her husband Russel in 2001, four siblings: Darlene Jensen, Diane Holland, Jackie Jensen, and Orin Jensen.

Joanne Nelson, age 82, of Moorhead, MN, died on Monday, July 6, 2026, at Sanford West Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Moorhead, MN. Visitation will start at 1:00 PM Tuesday. Her cremains will be placed in the niche next to Russel at Riverside Cemetery, Fargo, ND.
