Jane Salber, a beloved soul of 67 years, gracefully departed this world on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, embracing her eternal rest at her newly constructed haven in rural Erhard, MN. Surrounded by the compassionate care of HIA Hospice and freed from the confines of Parkinson’s Disease, she has now earned her angelic wings.
A Mass of Christian Burial will celebrate her life on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Assumption Catholic Church in Barnesville, presided over by Father Todd Arends. Friends and family may pay their respects during visitation starting at 5 PM on Friday, December 12, 2025, which will include a heartfelt Prayer Service at 7 PM, with further opportunities to gather one hour before Mass on Saturday.
Jane Renee Olander was born on July 19, 1958, to the loving embrace of Helmer and Veronica (Griep) Olander in Bertha, MN, marking the beginning of her remarkable journey as the youngest of eight siblings. Her roots in a close-knit family nurtured her spirit, which radiated warmth and generosity throughout her life. Jane attended Staples High School, graduating in 1976, where she participated FFA, choir and was a member of the National Honor Society.
With ambition and creativity, Jane pursued her passion for floral design at the Vo-Tech school in Brainerd, MN. Jane met the love of her life, Ron Salber, on an FFA canoe trip to the Boundary Waters. Their union in marriage on June 4, 1977, marked the start of a beautiful life together, initially in Elbow Lake, MN, where the two of them eventually opened Salber Floral and Greenhouse. In 1985, their journey took them to Fertile, MN where she continued her passion as a floral designer. Eventually, they settled in Barnesville, with Jane applying her organizational talents as a bankruptcy trustee office manager.
For the last seven years of her life, Jane approached her battle with Parkinson's Disease with remarkable fortitude, choosing to savor the present moment rather than dwell on past struggles or future uncertainties. Her resilience inspired those around her, reflecting her profound commitment to living life fully.
Throughout her life, Jane made lasting contributions to her community. She served proudly as the president of the Jaycees club and earned accolades alongside Ron as the Outstanding Regional Jaycee couple. Her devotion to the Teens Encounter Christ (TEC) organization and the local Lions Club was unwavering, where she not only held multiple leadership roles but also received the most prestigious award, the Melvin Jones Fellow. She served the Barnesville community in endless ways including the local food shelf, the Clay County fair and Potato days.
Jane’s legacy extends through her children, whom she supported lovingly in their 4-H endeavors, and her faith was a guiding force. Her passion for music resonated within the walls of her church as she cantored and sang joyfully with the choir.
A creative spirit, Jane found joy in gardening, cross-stitching, embroidery, and quilting, giving her hands purpose and allowing her to pour love into every stitch. Her fascination with family history led her to explore her roots, tracing her ancestry back to Sweden and Germany.
Most dear to Jane were her grandchildren, with whom she crafted cherished memories: from creating enchanting fairy gardens to stitching unique quilts for each of them. Each holiday sparkled with her loving touch, reflecting a grandmother's devotion that will forever warm their hearts.
As we gather to remember Jane Salber, let us celebrate a life beautifully lived—one filled with love, service, and an indomitable spirit that embraced each day with grace. She will be deeply missed yet lovingly remembered by the many lives she touched.
