James D. Shepherd

James Daniel Shepherd was born November 7, 1966, in Moorhead, MN, to Judith and Rufus Shepherd. He passed away in Fargo, ND, on December 4, 2023. James was the youngest of four children and grew up in the Fargo-Moorhead area. In 1988, he went on to marry his love Deborah Shepherd and they created three children together Joshua (son), Jared (son), and Alicia (daughter). Throughout his time on earth, he had several occupations ranging from cooking all the way to nursing aid. He attended college at Minnesota State Technical College where he pursued his education in graphic design. 

James had two fur babies, Chico who met him at the gates, and left behind Scrappy who meant the world to him. James enjoyed spending any time he could with his grandchildren, teaching them new things like how to ride a bike and how to throw a punch. He loved cruising the town on his scooter with his "baby Kali" and playing a tune on his harmonica. He enjoyed going fishing, traveling any chance he could, as well as capturing every beautiful moment possible on his camera.

He is survived by his four siblings, brothers, Richard Shepherd and Robert Shepherd, sister, Theresa (Shepherd) Long, and adopted sister, Julia Solis; his children, Joshua (Alexa) Shepherd, Jared Shepherd and Alicia Shepherd; and grandchildren, Dayton Dean, Kali Rayne, Raiden James, Joslyn Ann, Zion Daniel, ZJ Von, Amina Zakara and Amiyah Monique. He also has one grandbaby on the way.

James is preceded in death by his parents Judith Solis and Rufus Shepherd.

He will be forever missed and remembered for his kind heart, sense of humor and his unconditional love for his family.
