Iver L. Rude

Aug 19, 1933 — Sep 13, 2026

Moorhead, MN

Iver L. Rude, 93, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2026, in Eventide on Eighth, under the care of Ethos Hospice and with Bryan by his side.

Iver was born on August 19, 1933, to Iver and Martha (Qualley) Rude, on their farm in Perley, MN. Iver was the youngest of nine children. He worked on the farm and for several farmers until graduating from Borup High School. After high school Iver went to Interstate Business Collage in Fargo, ND and got a job with Allis Chalmers where he worked for 15 years.

On August 9, 1958, Iver was united in marriage to Carol Evenson, in Havana, ND. Iver and Carol had three children, Cindy, Sheri and Bryan. Iver and Carol loved to vacation with their family. Every summer they would spend a week at the lake and would also take trips to locations like Yellowstone, Glacier and Corpus Christi, TX, just to name a few.

In 1973, Iver decided traveling with Allis Chalmers took him away from his family too much, so he acquired his own Implement Dealership in Halstad, MN, called G & R Equipment. A few months after moving to Halstad, and starting a new business, his wife Carol was killed in a car accident on November 7, 1973, leaving Iver, then 40 years old, to raise his children alone.

Iver was very active in the Halstad Community, joining the volunteer Fire Department, Lions Club and other organizations, but he mostly loved watching his children in their school activities and sporting events. He never missed a football game and was often seen on the sidelines holding the chains.

Iver was blessed to find love again and on August 21, 1982, he married Marilyn MacQueen. Iver gained 5 more children when he married Marilyn, all of whom he loved dearly. In 1991, Iver and Marilyn moved to Sun Lakes, AZ where he worked for several implement dealerships. You can get the boy off the farm, but you can't get the farm out of the boy, Iver would say. In 2006, Iver and Marilyn moved to Red Wing, MN where he finally retired. He enjoyed meeting new friends and the retirement life in their condo. In 2021, Iver and Marilyn then moved into The Linden in Moorhead. They lived there together until Marilyn passed away on August 30, 2023. He continued to live there until he moved to Eventide on Eighth at the beginning of Sept.

Family was most important in Ivers' life. He always enjoyed time he spent with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Iver made friends easily every place he lived. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and traveling, especially enjoying the trips he and Marilyn took to Alaska and Norway. He loved to play cards and even taught several people how to play Cribbage. Iver had a quick wit and cared deeply. Even in his final days, he would ask those that visited how farming was going and what was happening in his grandchildren’s life. Iver also never wavered from his faith and told us all he was ready to go.

Iver is survived by his children, Cindy Rude, Sheri (Del) Ketterl, and Bryan Rude; step-children, Vicki (Mike) Coleman, Jeff (Brick) MacQueen, Kim (Doyle) Rose, and Steve MacQueen; grandchildren, Jeremy Nelson, Ryan Nelson, Andy (Brittany) Nelson, Becca (Micah) Dralle, Bobby Rude, Zach Rude, Eric (fiancé, Allie Struble) Rude, Charlie (Lily) Rude, Sean (Missy Hunt) MacQueen, Katie (Casey) Rogstad, Bri (Dustin) Leigh, Kelsey (Andrew) Droen, Eddie (Kylie) Bohn, Casey (Chelsea) Bohn, Max (Gabby) Rose, and Josh (Phebbie) Rose; many great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Carey Bohn; sister, Helen Hekman; sisters-in-law, Laverne Rude and Ruthie Baker; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Carol and Marilyn; parents, Iver and Martha; stepdaughter, Susan Bohn; and siblings, Joseph Rude, Irvin Rude, Irene Snyder, Chester Rude, Doris Merkins, Donald Rude, and Richard Rude.

Iver's Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 10:30 AM, with a visitation one hour prior, at Korsmo Funeral and Cremation Service, Moorhead. A private family burial will be held at Halstad Lutheran North Cemetery, Halstad, MN. Iver's service will be livestreamed and can be viewed right here on his obituary page.
