Idella Larson

Idella Fern Holty was born October 4, 1920, the daughter of Andrew and Tina (Johnson) Holty, at Hettinger, ND. She received her education in Perkins County, SD, where she lived until she moved to the Shelly, MN, area in 1938. On December 27, 1939, Idella was united in marriage to Lester Larson in Ada, MN. He preceded her in death on May 11, 2000.




Over the years, Idella worked doing various jobs in Shelly and the surrounding area. She was a faithful member of the Shelly-Marsh River Lutheran Church and an active member of the Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the Historical Society and Steam Threshers Reunion. Idella loved music, playing piano for the senior citizens, playing cards and spending time with all her friends at the Senior Citizens Center in Moorhead, MN.

Idella died Tuesday morning, March 9, 2004, at 1:45 AM, in ManorCare Health Services, Fargo, ND, with her family at her bedside. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family and friends. The family would like to especially thank Lutheran Social Services and the staff of ManorCare for their care and concern.

Idella is survived by two daughters, Betty (Ray) Malmlov, Shelly, and Rebecca (Rodney) Spokely, rural Nielsville, MN; a son, Brian (Marlys) Larson, Fargo; a brother, Vern Holty, Fargo; eleven grandchildren, Kim (Scott) Blattner, Bambi (Phil) Hellerud, Raiko (Chris) Blattner, Deveryn (Brandie) Malmlov, Nathan (April) Malmlov, Tiffany Malmlov and special friend, Marc Rosenau, Nicole (Herman) Weiss, Missy Larson and special friend, Chad Ambers, Michon (Paul) Metzger, Jennifer (Lance) Reitmeier, and Mandi (Benjamin) Hoff; and eleven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and eleven brothers and sisters.
