Hazel E. Bakken

Hazel Elvina Bakken was born June 11, 1942, in Sharon, ND, to Clarence and Selma (Petterson) Erickson. The family moved to White Earth, ND, and then to Grafton, ND, where she attended grade school.
The next move was to Moorhead, MN, where she graduated from high school. She then attended Josef's School of Hair Design. Hazel worked in a beauty shop in Dilworth, MN, for several years. She married Edgar S. Bakken in 1967, and they made their home in Rothsay, MN, where they had two children - both stillborn.
They moved to Bagley, MN, where she worked at a Lutheran church for many years, and later at a nursing home in Bagley, as well as Fosston, MN. Hazel loved children and animals and was always happy when friends' children came to visit. For the past two years, Hazel lived in Moorhead. She died Saturday, May 25, 2019, in Eventide on Eighth, Moorhead, at seventy-six years of age.
In addition to her two infant children and husband, Hazel was preceded in death by two brothers, Vernon and Arthur.
She is survived by her sister, Elaine (Bill) Scheer; sister-in-law, Joyce (Edward) Westfall; and many nieces and nephews.


Her funeral will be Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at 10 AM at Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead, with visitation starting at 9 AM.

Burial will take place in Hamar Cemetery, Rothsay, MN.
