Harlen R. Bochman

Harlen R. Bochman, 84, of Fargo, ND, passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, in HIA Heather’s House surrounded by his family.

Harlen Ray Bochman was born to Thorton & Lucille Bochman on June 6th, 1942 in Tyndall South Dakota, the second of four children including Theron, Sharlyn and Merlon Bochman.

Harlen married Carol Jean Farnsworth on June 12th, 1964, holding her hand and never letting go. He graduated college, was a businessman and worked until he retired. They had two children: Lisa Biggins of Denver, Colorado, married to David Biggins with two sons Drake (Deziree) Biggins (who are expecting a son) and Grant Biggins; and Brian Bochman of Fargo, North Dakota married to Laarni Bochman with three children Jayme (Danielle) Bochman, Christopher Bochman and Emma Herner (Ethan). Harlen had four great- grandchildren, Abigail Bochman, Leah Bochman, Alexander Bochman and the recently arrived Belle Bochman (Jayme and Danielle’s children).

Married 62 years to the love of his life Carol, he always put family first. He was a solid protector of his family, giving advice and comfort when needed. He was a beacon of love for everyone, from friends, and siblings, to the littlest family member. His greatest joys were spending time with his family, going on family vacations, watching his grandsons’ baseball games, great-grandchildren’s plays and performances, celebrating holidays and inviting the grandkids over for Sunday waffles. He was always there creating memories for us all. You never wondered if he loved you. He was the face of love for the whole family. He always said I love you every time he saw you, and a hug was his favorite. He has been and always will be a joy to our hearts and very much missed.

A proud Christian Man, our Patriarch, who started every prayer with “Dearest Heavenly Father” he was an example of great Faith and Love. He loved sharing with his family and friends and was always ready to serve, including being a greeter at Church. He loved to ask “How Can I Help?”.

Harlen is proceeded in death by his mom & dad and his brothers “Terry & Mert”. He is survived by his wife, beloved “Sis” Sharlyn, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dearest Heavenly Father, heaven will be a better place with Harlen there because he will be sharing his kind, gentle ways, his laughter and his unforgettable smile. We love you Gpa!

A Gathering of Family and Friends for Harlen will begin at 10:00 AM, Thursday, September 17, 2026, followed by a Celebration of His Life at 11 AM in Bethel Church, Fargo. He will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.
