Gilberto Cervantes Jr., 57, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2026, in Heather's House HIA, Fargo, ND, surrounded by family.

Gilberto grew up in Mexico until the age of nine, when his family moved to Texas. He attended Martin High School and, after graduating, began a lifetime of hard work. Throughout the years, Gilberto worked many different jobs, from construction to Don’s Car Wash. No matter what job he had, he was known for being dependable, hardworking, and willing to do whatever was needed.

In 1985, Gilberto met the love of his life, San Juana Baez de Cervantes. They were united in marriage in 1995 and built their home together in Moorhead, where they raised their three children. Family was at the heart of Gilberto’s life, and he was a loving and devoted husband and father.

Gilberto had a special and loving bond with his four sisters. He loved each of them dearly and cherished the connection they shared. His sisters were an important part of his life, and he was always there for them whenever they needed him. The love between Gilberto and his sisters was something truly special—a bond that went beyond words and was built on family, laughter, memories, and years of being there for one another. He treasured every moment he had with them, and his sisters will always carry his love and memories in their hearts.

Gilberto was a deeply caring person who would do anything to take care of San Juana and his family. His kindness extended to everyone around him—including his beloved dog, whom he loved to spoil and pamper.

Gilberto found joy in the simple things in life. He loved fishing, playing Bingo, and listening to music. He had a wonderful sense of humor and could always bring laughter to those around him. One of his favorite words was “choing,” a word that will surely bring a smile and fond memories to those who knew and loved him.

Gilberto was also known for his cooking. His family and friends especially enjoyed his BBQ, carne asada, and pork chops. Sharing good food with the people he loved was one of the many ways he showed his care and affection.

Gilberto will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, generous heart, sense of humor, and, most of all, the love he had for his family. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will be treasured by his wife, children, four sisters, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him. His love, laughter, kindness, and unforgettable personality will live on in the hearts of his family forever.

He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, from 5PM to 7PM, with a prayer service at 7PM, in St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Moorhead, MN.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at 11 AM in St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church.

Gilberto creció en México hasta los nueve años de edad, cuando su familia se mudó a Texas. Asistió a la escuela secundaria Martin High School y, después de graduarse, comenzó una vida dedicada al trabajo. A lo largo de los años, Gilberto desempeñó muchos trabajos diferentes, desde la construcción hasta trabajar en Don’s Car Wash. Sin importar el trabajo que realizara, siempre fue conocido por ser una persona responsable, trabajadora y dispuesta a hacer lo que fuera necesario.

En 1985, Gilberto conoció al amor de su vida, San Juana Baez de Cervantes. Se unieron en matrimonio en 1995 y juntos establecieron su hogar en Moorhead, donde criaron a sus tres hijos. La familia siempre fue el centro de la vida de Gilberto, y fue un esposo y padre amoroso y dedicado.

Gilberto tenía una relación muy especial y llena de amor con sus cuatro hermanas. Amaba profundamente a cada una de ellas y valoraba mucho el vínculo que compartían. Sus hermanas fueron una parte muy importante de su vida, y él siempre estuvo ahí para ellas cuando lo necesitaban. El amor entre Gilberto y sus hermanas era algo verdaderamente especial; un vínculo que iba más allá de las palabras y que se fortaleció a través de la familia, las risas, los recuerdos y todos los años que compartieron juntos. Gilberto atesoraba cada momento que pasaba con ellas, y sus hermanas siempre llevarán su amor y sus recuerdos en sus corazones.

Gilberto era una persona muy cariñosa y bondadosa, que haría cualquier cosa para cuidar de San Juana y de su familia. Su cariño se extendía a todos los que lo rodeaban, incluyendo a su querido perro, al que le encantaba consentir y mimar.

Gilberto encontraba felicidad en las cosas sencillas de la vida. Le encantaba pescar, jugar Bingo y escuchar música. Tenía un maravilloso sentido del humor y siempre podía hacer reír a quienes estaban a su alrededor. Una de sus palabras favoritas era “choing”, una palabra que seguramente traerá una sonrisa y hermosos recuerdos a todos los que lo conocieron y amaron.

Gilberto también era conocido por su manera de cocinar. Su familia y sus amigos disfrutaban especialmente de su BBQ, carne asada y chuletas de cerdo. Compartir una buena comida con las personas que amaba era una de las muchas maneras en que demostraba su cariño y afecto.

Gilberto será recordado por su espíritu trabajador, su gran corazón, su sentido del humor y, sobre todo, por el amor que tenía hacia su familia. Deja atrás toda una vida llena de recuerdos que serán atesorados por su esposa, sus hijos, sus cuatro hermanas y todos aquellos que tuvieron la dicha de conocerlo. Su amor, sus risas, su bondad y su personalidad inolvidable vivirán para siempre en los corazones de su familia.

Será profundamente extrañado, amado por siempre y jamás olvidado.

Se llevará a cabo un velorio el martes 25 de agosto de 2026, de 5:00 p.m. a 7:00 p.m., seguido de un servicio de oración a las 7:00 p.m., en la Iglesia Católica St. Francis de Sales, en Moorhead, Minnesota.

La Misa de Entierro Cristiano se celebrará el miércoles 26 de agosto de 2026, a las 11:00 a.m., en la Iglesia Católica St. Francis de Sales, en Moorhead, Minnesota
