Simone Geraldine Kringlie was born June 28, 1932, the daughter of Christian and Stella (Holmen) Kringlie in Courtenay, ND. She graduated from Valley City High School in 1950.
On February 3, 1952, she was united in marriage to Duane Engle of Rogers, ND at Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley City. Over the years, Geri and Duane lived in Harvey, Lucca, Valley City, Bordulac, ND, Minneapolis, MN, Neenah, WI, Minot and Enderlin, ND, while Duane worked for the Soo Line Railroad. In 1993, they retired to Fargo. Duane passed away in May of 2014.
She was a wonderful homemaker who loved to cook, bake and sew for her family and kept the home fires burning for her three children, as Duane was often out of town for his job. She held many positions in the churches and communities they lived in serving as WELCA officer in Carrington, ND, and Enderlin, Chairperson of Funeral Committee, active in the choir and quilting group in Enderlin, a Sunday School teacher in Neenah, WI. She also served on the Enderlin Clinic Board at the time they were raising funds to re-open the clinic and Enderlin Library Board when they were raising funds for a new library and was a member of the Sheyenne Valley Arts and Crafts Association in Fort Ransom, ND. Geri also enjoyed expanding the genealogy of her family and her husband's family. She was a skilled artist and especially loved doing pen and ink drawings. Geri was truly a special woman.
She is survived by her children, Kent (Karen), Velva, ND, Karen, Detroit Lakes, MN, and Kristi, Bismarck, ND; grandsons, Matthew (Anne) and Andrew (Kendra); great-grandchildren, Sloane, Jay, Gage, George and Andrew; sister, Kay Kringlie; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Stella (Holmen) Kringlie; husband, Duane; sisters, Marjorie Button and Jean Busta; twin brother, Simon Gerald; and brothers, Christian "Ron", Philip, Jack and Frank.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Messiah Lutheran Church Hour of Worship of a charity of your choice.
Visitation for Geri will begin at 10:00 AM, Saturday, March 27, 2021, followed by her Funeral Service at 11:00 am, in Messiah Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. Burial will take place in Memory Gardens, Valley City, ND.
In accordance with CDC and local guidelines, social distancing and masks will be required for attendance. Geri's Funeral Service will also be live-streamed and the links can be found on her obituary page on the Korsmo Funeral Service website.
