Gerald "Jerry" L. Ross, 81, of Detroit Lakes, MN, passed away peacefully at Ecumen – The Cottage in Detroit Lakes on October 21, 2025, surrounded by his beloved family.
Born on May 19, 1944, in Perham, MN, Jerry was the son of Raymond and Gladyce (Andersen) Ross. He attended District 166 near Vergas, MN, and graduated from Pelican Rapids High School in 1962.
In 1965, Jerry was drafted into the Army and served overseas in Korea for one year and received his honorable discharge in 1967. Following his military service, he began his career at Evans Grocery Store in Detroit Lakes. On September 12, 1970, he married Pamela Illg at Evergreen Lutheran Church near Frazee, MN. They established their home in Detroit Lakes, raising their two children, Lance and Tera. Jerry dedicated over 30 years of service to Pan O Gold Bakery, becoming well-known for his nice buns. Additionally, he was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the American Legion Post 15 in Detroit Lakes.
In retirement, Jerry remained active by mowing for the City of Detroit Lakes and various other locations. His passion for sports was evident as he enjoyed following the Minnesota Vikings, Minnesota Twins, and the Detroit Lakers. He took great pride in his children's swimming careers and celebrated their achievements through high school and college.
Jerry cherished family camping trips, enjoyed woodworking in his shop, and brightened the holidays with his Christmas lights. He formed lasting friendships through his coffee groups and loved exploring the scenic routes on long drives. As a grandfather, he delighted in watching his grandchildren play soccer and even developed an enthusiasm for hockey as they became involved in the sport.
Jerry will be remembered and missed by his wife, Pam; their children, Lance (Loretta) Ross; and Tera (Andy) Peterson; five grandchildren, Finley, Callie, Lydia, Liam, and Layton.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Jim Ross; and sister-in-law, Marilyn Ross.

Funeral services for Jerry will be held Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at 12 PM in Trinity Lutheran Church, Detroit Lakes. Visitation will begin at the church starting at 10:30 AM. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes.
