Elizabeth Ann McLagan, 86, of Dilworth, MN, passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, in Lilac Homes, Dilworth.
Liz was born on August 11, 1939, to Lloyd and Doris (Milbrandt) McLagan. She was the oldest of five children and she grew up and graduated from high school in Bellingham, MN. As a strong, independent young lady, she left home after graduation and slowly made her way to Denver, CO. When she got to Colorado, she knew that was her home because she fell in love with the Rocky Mountains! After living in Denver for more than 60 years, Liz moved back to Minnesota in January 2023 due to failing health. Liz worked various jobs throughout her life. She was a waitress, a cook, and the head of catering at a hotel chain, which included traveling to many cities to open new restaurants. Later Liz got her cosmetology license and owned a beauty shop & beauty college.
As an avid sports fan, Liz cheered for the Denver Broncos, Avalanche, Nuggets, and Rockies. But after relocating to Minnesota, she also cheered for the Vikings, Wild, Timberwolves, and Twins, except when they played her Denver teams! Liz loved all animals, but she had a special place in her heart for dogs. When she returned to Minnesota, she was afraid that our dog wouldn’t like her, but the minute she arrived, they instantly fell in love with each other, and they developed a very special relationship.
Liz is survived by her sister, Martha (Marty) Sisk, Moorhead, MN; brother, Bradley (Sally) McLagan, Renville, MN; and many nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd & Doris; sister, Glenda Nelson; brother, Roger McLagan; brothers-in-law, Tyler Nelson and Bill Sisk.
A Graveside Service will be held for Liz on Friday, September 5, 2025, at 1PM, in Bellingham Cemetery, Bellingham, MN.
