Edward Lee "Ed" Westfall, 89, of Moorhead, Minnesota, passed away on August 4, 2026. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories shared with family, friends, and a community that knew him for his kindness, his willingness to lend a helping hand, and his ability to fix just about anything.

Ed was born on June 5, 1937, in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, to Floyd and Syble (Brakefield) Westfall. At a young age, his family moved to California, where he was raised in a ranch-style home in Corral de Tierra and graduated from Salinas High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force before eventually making his home in Moorhead, Minnesota, where he built a life rooted in faith, friendship, and family.

On November 28, 1998, Ed married the love of his life, Joyce Neuman. Their story began at a dance pavilion in Detroit Lakes, where a shared love of dancing brought them together. Together they shared 27 wonderful years of marriage, building a life filled with laughter, travel, family, and cherished friendships.

Ed cherished time spent with family and friends. He also enjoyed dancing, traveling, stock trading, attending and performing in community theatre, singing in the choir at St. Joseph Catholic Church, and was an accomplished whistler. Those closest to him will also remember the special bond he shared with his beloved green conure, Lucy. Whether they were playing peekaboo together or asking if she wanted a "treat"—her favorite word—Lucy was never far from his heart.

Ed believed in being involved in his community and giving of his time. He was active with the American Legion, Fargo-Moorhead Community Theatre, Sons of Norway, and the choir at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Whether he was performing on stage, singing with friends, helping someone fix a problem, or simply sharing a conversation, Ed had a way of making people feel welcome.

He is survived by the love of his life, Joyce Westfall; his children, Dawn Wakefield, Cindy Anton, and Brenda Plantz; his stepchildren, Karen Landsverk, Maria Sall, and John Erickson; his grandchildren, Valen Anton, Stephanie Michels, Channing Turner, Jordan Olthoff, Rachael Carn, Steve Erickson, Josh Erickson, Genessa Lahr, Gregory Sall, Gabrielle Landsverk, Anna Landsverk, and Ashley Schwartz; 15 great-grandchildren; and his brother, Carl Westfall.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Syble Westfall; his first wife, Sandra Westfall; son-in-law, Kenneth Anton; two brothers, Gary Westfall and Melvin Westfall; and stepson, Steven Erickson.

Ed will be remembered not only for the things he built and repaired, but for the joy he found in life's simple moments—a dance with Joyce, a song in the choir, a role on stage, time spent with those he loved, and the quiet kindness he extended to others throughout his life.

His legacy lives on in the family he loved and the countless memories shared by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
