Douglas John Wee was born on June 5, 1964, at the Wee family home in north Moorhead. With heavy hearts, we announce his passing at his home, on July 22, 2026. Doug spent 62 years of his life in the same home, the youngest of four children born to Erling and Deloris (McDougall) Wee.
Doug was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Moorhead. After graduating from Moorhead High School in 1982, he followed in the footsteps of his father and two brothers by serving in the military. He joined the Air National Guard and after completing his training, worked at the North Dakota Air National Guard Base at Hector International Airport in Fargo as tech sergeant; home of the Happy Hooligans.
Doug especially enjoyed traveling with his squadron, experiencing new places and cultures. He retired early at age 50. In retirement, he devoted much of his time to caring for and supporting his mother, helping her remain in her family home until 2022 when she required additional care.
Doug will be remembered for his hearty laugh, infectious smile, love of storytelling, and the joy he found in spending time with his family and friends. He was a life-long and avid Minnesota Vikings and Twins fan.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents on both sides; Oscar and Gina Wee and Gordon and Hilma McDougall; his father, Erling Wee; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Wee; and nephew, Mike Czichotzki.
Doug is survived by his mother, Deloris of West Fargo; his sister, LaVerne Czichotzki (Mark); his brothers, Robert Wee (Louise); and Donald Wee (LuAnn); six nieces and nephews; many great nieces and great nephews; and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins and all of his friends at Vic’s.
A celebration of Doug’s life will be held at Korsmo Funeral and Cremation Service on August 9, 2026, at 1 pm. Visitation will be one hour prior. Doug will be laid to rest by his father at Moorhead Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Honor Flight for Veterans (https://www.honorflight.org).
