Dorothea Elizabeth Murchison was born on August 19, 1939, to George and Elizabeth (Fortune) Murchison in Fargo, North Dakota. She was raised in Fargo where she received her early education, before graduating from Shanley High School. Following high school, she attended North Dakota State University for one year.
On October 25, 1958, Dorothea was united in marriage to Delayne Rae Halverson in Fargo. Together they made their home on a farm near Downer, Minnesota, where they farmed and raised cattle for many years.
Dorothea loved her six children and raised them to be strong, thoughtful, capable men and women. She was devoted to her marriage and her family.

Music was one of Dorothea’s greatest passions and a gift she generously shared throughout her life. Blessed with a beautiful voice, she found joy in singing and in inspiring others through music. She sang in the church choir, directed the children’s choir at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Barnesville, performed in the Easter Cantata for many years, and appeared in productions with the FM Community Theater.
Later in life, Dorothea continued to brighten the days of residents and staff at Valley Senior Living, sharing songs that brought comfort, joy, and connection. Her love of music was woven into every season of her life, and those who had the privilege of hearing her sing were truly blessed.
