Dorine "Toni" J. McManus

Dorine Jeanette was born June 2, 1930, in Rutland, ND, and passed away peacefully on September 13, 2022, at Eventide in Fargo, ND. She was affectionately known as “Toni.”

Toni was the first of nine children born to Minnie and Harold Evenson. After graduating from the Class of 1948, in Cogswell, ND, she began working at Northwestern Bell in Fargo. She soon met Eugene McManus, whom she would marry on September 20, 1956, in Moorhead, MN.

Toni and Gene welcomed their first son, Phillip in 1962, followed by Paul in 1968. They spent many years in Dilworth, MN, and later settled in Detroit Lakes, MN. After Gene passed away, she moved to Fargo to be closer to her family and friends.

She loved the loons at the lake, taking care of Gene, painting, visiting the casinos and talking on the phone. Toni would make daily phone calls to family and friends to check on their wellbeing and to chat.

She is survived by her son, Phillip (Lynne), Dilworth; grandson, Sean (Carly) McManus, Wahpeton, ND; granddaughter, Shelby (Dawson) Rasmussen, Detroit Lakes, MN; great-grandsons, Deegan, Bellamy, and Daxton; great-granddaughter, Sutton; sisters, Delores Breker, Darlene Soberg, and Carol (Arvin) Herman; brother, Arnold (Pam) Evenson; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eugene; son, Paul; brother, Gerald; and sisters, Eleanor, Diane and Darlyes.

The Celebration for Toni’s Life will be 11:00 AM, Friday, September 30, 2022, in Korsmo Funeral and Cremation Service, Moorhead, with a Gathering of Family and Friends one hour prior to her Celebration.
