Donald Bruce McRaven Jr.

Donald Bruce McRaven Jr. passed away on December 23, 2025, at HIA Heathers House in Fargo, ND.

Donald was born July 24, 1935, to Elizabeth Mahan McRaven and Donald B. McRaven Sr. in Minneapolis, MN. He attended schools in Minneapolis, Omaha and Berkley and graduated from North High in Minneapolis. He participated in Golden Gloves Boxing at the Phyllis Wheatly Community Center in Minneapolis. He worked as a sign painter, free-lance photographer, and stand-up comedian while driving yellow cab.

After graduating from the University of Minnesota with a B.A. in art and social science and a MFA, he began teaching at Moorhead State College where he developed the photography major in the art department and retired in 1996.

In addition to photography, he enjoyed fishing, going to auctions, disco dancing and reading non-fiction.

He is survived by Linda, his wife of 51 years, his son Donald B. McRaven III (Daytona), several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Elizabeth and Donald B. McRaven Sr., his sister Bertha Phillips and son Jeffrey McRaven.
